Hello, friends!
The weather has been a tad wild here, alternating between warmer days (I’ve stopped carrying gloves everywhere) and chilly wind and snow. Is it spring? Is it fall/winter? Can we make up our minds?! Thankfully, the weather report declares that next week is in the 10-15°C range, so hopefully the lake will unfreeze soon.
After an exciting writing session this morning on The Demon Queen (DFS #3) involving Lyric, Runa, Kell and Caeradan, I recorded the next Daughters of Fire & Sea reading for YouTube (Chapter 12-13) and am waiting for it to upload. I kind of wonder if it’d be faster to watch paint dry. *big sigh* (update: it’s live! :)
Do you have any fun weekend plans? Aside from yard work (if it’s warm enough) and playing games with the kids, I’ll probably get in a writing session or two on TDQ. I’m giving my critique partner what I have so far, so I can briefly step away from the story and return with fresh eyes. Her feedback will help me see what’s working and what’s not.
So what will I be up to while I wait?
As I’m incapable of not working on a project while TDQ is out of my hands, I’m going to be drafting a new book I think you’ll be excited about. I’m going to be secretive like I always am in the initial stages (sorry!), but what I will say is that it’s a cozy fantasy with medium stakes and a very cool magic system. ;)
Promos for you
I have dragon books for you! I’ve teamed up with seventy other authors to bring you a delightful hoard of books that all feature dragons! From assassins to shifters, dragon riders to dragon conquerors, you’re sure to find a book that suits your tastes. Come take a look! (I’ve also put Daughters of Fire & Sea on sale for $0.99 until May 12.)
I’m also excited to share Rachel Rener’s upcoming sale for her Gilded Blood series, a fun urban fantasy. I’ve loved the books so far (so many laugh out loud moments!) and will be snapping up the last book when it releases May 16. You can find Rachel’s series here on Amazon.
Spots of sunshine
We’re still close to the beginning of the month, but here are a few things that brought me joy/made me smile.
This electronic/harp music by Lara Somogyi (thanks to Allison for sending my way!)
The sound of swans honking at each other around the lake.
This voracious reader sticker from KWT Designs.
Anyone else watching Mrs. Davis and getting Dirk Gently vibes? (I love Wiley, but I’m still not over the horse!) I think you’ll either be intrigued/love it or hate it, so Google the show before watching if you’re curious.
This upcoming qigong workshop. I’ve decided to give qigong a try, as I think it’d be a great accompaniment to the weight training I’ve been doing recently.
And that’s about it! Despite the weather, summer will be here soon (can you believe it?!) so I’ve been trying to get as much writing done as possible before my kids are out of school. It’s been going pretty well.
As always, thank you so much for reading. I am immensely grateful for all of you who read my stories. It means the world. :) I hope you have a wonderful weekend!
