A student once again
Hello, friends!
How are you doing? For me, it’s felt a bit like I’ve been sprinting non-stop since July and I’ve yet to catch my breath. In my last newsletter I said that I’d be reducing my emails to when I have actionable news, so I’m not certain if some of you missed my Instagram post about returning to school to learn narrative design for games. You can read the post at the link above, but the short of it is that The Demon Queen is regrettably pushed to 2024 (it’s the longest of the series so far!) and I’ve done a little rearranging of my publishing schedule.
As you can imagine with full-time classes, I have less writing time now, but I’m still getting words in where I can (currently between 5-6am before I leave for the day). You can see what I have planned in the graphic below and what I hope to release before year’s end.
But that’s not all! Allison Carr Waechter and I are currently co-writing something for you that we’re releasing this fall, and I’m very excited to share it with you. We’ll be announcing it very soon. ;)
Need something to read?
If you’re looking for something to read, I have two promos for you. The first is a collection of dragon books, including Daughters of Fire & Sea.
And the second is a collection of sci-fi and fantasy books that are ‘wide,’ which means you have lots of different retailers to choose from (nothing from Kindle Unlimited here, though you’ll still find some of the books on Amazon).
And with that, I sink back into the whirlwind of my exceedingly busy schedule. It has been challenging to go to school again (especially with two children, a two-hour drive round trip, and an existing career), but I’m also learning and having fun. It’s nice to be around people again after working on my own for so long, and I’m thrilled about the chance to build worlds and tell stories in a new medium. It’s about time for a rewarding adventure of my own, aye Elitsa? ;)
Spots of sunshine
And since I have such a hard time saying goodbye, here are a few things that brought me joy/made me smile.
J.D. Evans’ newest book, Ice & Ivy! I love all of her stories and you’ll probably find her beautiful cover art a little familiar as we share the same incredible cover artist, Tatiana Anor. ;)
This cozy foraging/cooking game Out and About. The concept and art makes my nature-loving heart so happy and I can’t wait to play it.
Did you see my dahlia this year? Such a beautiful flower!
Did you know you can listen to Daughters of Fire & Sea on YouTube? I recorded the entire first book chapter by chapter and the whole thing is there for free. :)
Well, it’s already getting close to 8pm while I write this and I’m feeling tired and thinking of bed (my teenage self would be so disappointed! haha). The next time I write to you, I should have news about either my Soltaria book (including the title!) or my secret project with Allison.
I hope you’re enjoying the changing leaves as I am and that you have a wonderful autumn. Please send any fall book recs my way (anything cozy and mysterious!) or fun game news. Until next time!
